1980 Baseball Season Roster
- Phillies first World Series win ever
- KC’s first pennant, Houston’s first division title
- George Brett (.390) makes a run at .400
The Phillies, around since the 1800s, finally won their first World Series as Mike Schmidt hit the most HR (48) of his career. Houston signed Nolan Ryan to the first $1 million contract and won its first title – in a playoff with LA. In the AL, Baltimore won 100 – not enough to even win its division (the Yanks won 103). KC, led by Brett’s charge to .400, reached its first Series.
